Beginning adventures

Travel has been on the back burner for the past couple of years but this summer we started to make up for   lost time. Our first adventure was a three week tour of Oklahoma,Illinois,Wisconsin and Minnesota visiting family and friends!

                         !

After an exciting few days with the granddaughters we headed into OKC to visit friends who have recently downsized and are starting on the adventure of downtown apartment living after owning a home for most of their life. It was fun to be within walking distance of restaurants ,museums and concert venues.

After Oklahoma, we headed to Illinois, the  land of Lincoln. The big event besides visiting family was Albert’s 50th high school reunion. It was fun for him to reconnect with classmates and catch up on 50 years of activity. During the week of the reunion we were able to enjoy the company of Al’s sister and her family.

While staying in Woodstock with our nephew, we got to tour all the sites from that fun movie staring Bill Murray “Groundhog Day” It was great fun.

On our way to our next stop in Bloomer, Wi we stopped in my home town, Mt Morris  to visit my friend Trudy and then dinner with my Brother Bill, nephew Dustin and Minnie ,Bills close Friend. Our next stop was Bloomer Wisconsin . The next four days were filled with renewing friendships from our 12 years of calling Bloomer home. After a great visit it was time to head to Minneapolis and a quick visit with our son Jeffrey. The weather was fabulous and we were able to head to the walker sculpture garden to see some fabulous art.

It was a great way to wrap up our trip. We had great weather all the way, lots of reconnecting with family and old friends. It was a great road trip.
Well this has been my first attempt in many years at journaling our travels. I’ll be practicing my skills getting ready for our big adventure. Next up: NorCal for the annual Olive Harvest..See you soon!
