Sydney adventures continue

We are on our own today!!! Can we look anymore excited? The husbands are renting e-bikes today for their adventure through the city while Susan and I will see the city by open top bus..The BigBus, a hop on hop off attraction. We are ready for a leisure day of touring after yesterday’s death march of walking. The great thing about HOHO buses is that while you are touring if there is anywhere you want to check out closer, you just hop off and explore and then ho back on when ready.  They com equipped with headphones and narration in 8 languages so, hey..lets go!
The first thing I see is this really strange sculpture.. a squished by a rock little car! It sits in the middle of an intersection and has to bring a smile to your face when you see it!
The city is filled with old new, true old and new architecture. Here’s just a few of the favorites from me:

Tomorrow begins LTBG+ celebrations and the Australia Museum decorated its shark in front of the building

An example of old alongside new

I absolutely love looking at city architecture.

The above two picture are of UTS the university where Hugh Jackman graduated from with a degree in Theatre Arts. Very new architecture.
As we came upon this building, the greenery hanging on the outside can’t be missed. It was designed to be an eco building, with water lines from the room down the walls tp provide water to each plant, with mirrors to provide light to plants along the side that doesn’t get direct sunlight.
A closer view

Interesting huh?
After our hour and a half bussing it around Sydney, Susan and I returned to where we started. While we waited for our shuttle back to the ship we checked out the area. The shuttle picks us up near King street wharf. This area has been slowly revitalized and is lined with bars, restaurants and shops. We started out to look for ice cream but….

Susan found us OYSTERS!!!!!
Ice cream or oysters… no choice
And to go with them..fried squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta cheese

Think we were excited?

And a happy hour drink to go with it! It wasn’t really happy hour, but we asked if we could have happy hour since we were happy to be in their restaurant and sure enough: Happy Hour!
It was a great way to end our tours in Sydney. At 6pm the anchor lifted and ropes were cast off and away we went, leaving Sydney once again.
Leaving the harbor we came across America’s cup sailboats either practicing or getting ready for a race. See the crane in he background? It is used to lift the boats out of the water into the work area for each team.
A racing yacht and our tug.
If you look close you can see the USA yacht that has already been lifted into its spot.

Downtown as we leave
Below are two picture taken from a webcam in Sydney that include our ship leaving ..the famed Harbor bridge and Opera House said goodby to us

I should comment on the fact that Al and Steve had lots of fun biking around the city and most importantly they did not fall or break anything!
