An easy day in London Town..

Today we decided to take it easy on the sight seeing as this afternoon we are going to a play.top on the list is to see the Beatles zebra crossing..getting there will be an adventure of using the tube…we are getting better at it,thanks to the fact Albert grew up using the El/subway in Chicago .

We came out of the tube and immediately found this sign at the street opening. Guess they are used to visitors!
Here we are they were lots of people waiting to cross..most of them were young(much younger)that us but just as excited. Shows how the Beatles have affected the social culture of the world. They were from all over the world coming to get a piece of history.

And we crossed

This is a road that is very busy. You have to wait till there is a break in the traffic then hurry into the roadway and get your picture.Kinda fun for us but imagine its really not fun to be a driver.
Then of course next to the crossing is Abby Road Studios

All the Pilars of the driveway into Abby Road were filled with messages.

Supposedly the house behind this gate belongs to Paul McCartney….
The rooftop was where the Beatles played the Get Back concert

After the Beatles’ sight seeing, we had enough time to head to the area called Piccadilly Circus for a quick bite of Lunch. The stop this time was at Hard Rock Cafe London. The food was good and looking at the memorabilia was fun. Al took a few pictures and this one especially for our friend Bibiana:
Shakira!!
I was just to tired and hungry to try to take pictures! Somehow being in the London Hard Rock was much more enjoyable than anywhere else.. think because London Music scene had so much to do with forming my younger years! Here was where ground zero was for the music I grew to love! After lunch we headed to the St.Martins Theatre to view the world’s longest running play “The MouseTrap by Agatha Christie.

Even after 70 years( Yes, 70!) the play was fresh and interesting! We enjoyed it immensely and during the intermission it was fun to talk with the others attending seated in front of us …we all had guesses to make about whodunit.
Inside the entrance to the theatre

The stalls bar (our seats were in the stalls..a downstairs area)

I walked to the front and took this picture of the entire theatre, all three floors

Looking forward to the side

Opposite side of the entrance

Our seats

The historic plaque

The safety curtain came down over the curtains during intermission and at the end. Guess to prevent damage from flying fruit or stuff..?

After the Preformance , we started to walk back to the tube but Steve came up with the idea we should try to visit a pub in the West end….He found us one named the Sainsbury. It was great!

Al ,Susan and I had hard cider and Steve had a pint of beer. We all enjoyed our drinks. The place was packed and while looking for a place to sit, a gentleman named David invited us to sit with him at his table. What a great gesture and fun conversation we had with him!

Inside was dark and glittery with deep woods and glass everywhere.

It seemed like such a British way to end our day!
