This is the end,My friend..last full cruise day . We discover that you can indeed sail a large ship up the Thames

Well, this is it! 137 days of WaterWorld have been completed. Today we explore the London Borough of Greenwich. And we pack our bags…tomorrow before 9am we will disembark the Viking Neptune and start our 10 day land adventure. But for today we still explore this wonderful little area!

We are at floating docks in the middle of the Thames River.

The Uber boat will take us to shore

 Wow! What a view!
We arrive on shore under the watch of the Cutty Sark the only clipper ship left in existence

She just looks like she was very fast indeed

This round building is the entrance to a tunnel that goes under the river and exits on the other shore

And who wouldn’t want a carousel to ride!
Our tour guide will walk us around the square area and introduce us to the architecture

Similar to the quaintness of Canterbury
The church where Henry VIII was baptized

Th most decorated ice cream Ive ever seen…Unicorns, flowers and yummy looking!
Houses on our way to the Royal gardens at the Royal Observatory, National Maritime museum and the Royal Naval academy

A statue as we enter the grounds of the maritime museum ad the Queen’s house. (Elizabeth 1)

A clever giant ship in a bottle at the entrance to the museum.

The queen’s house (art museum now)

The royal naval academy in the background ( now a college)

Inside the Nautical museum. There was a great variety of serious exhibits and child focused exhibits. The exhibit on Admiral Nelson was very interesting

Al enjoyed the great map

Al finally makes it to Antarctica 😂
Various ship mastheads

outside there was an exhibit concerning the slave trade by the British  the theme was “a new world reimagined’’

We also made it up to the observatory so Al could stand where time begins.

East and west

The Royal Navy Academy

Al went through a tunnel under the Thames to the other side. He got stuck in an elevator for 20 minutes,it was an adventure..ask him for details!

Our ship in the center of the river.
Tonight we head to the Tower of London to see the Ceremony of the Keys.
Here are a few pictures from our tour of the Tower( really more like 11+ towers). The ceremony was not able to be recorded, nor pictures taken or recordings of any type.  I can assure you it was moving and informative. It is a military routine that has been preformed by the BeefEaters for 700 years, every night, rain or shine and even through Covid. It is the way the military locks and closes the towers for the night.Remember the Crown Jewels are kept there. And yes, Charles and Camilla did return the jewels back after the coronation.

The BeefEaters got their new uniforms today
 With Charles’s insignia
 The white tower

 Inside the chapel
The ceremony happens at exactly seven minutes to ten nightly..after dark

Anyway, I spent more time listening and looking tonight so these pictures will have to do…
Tomorrow is a short but emotional day. We are out of our rooms by 8am and off the ship by 9am…
