Leaving Liverpool and driving through the Lakes district of the UK. The area is rural and has a number of towns built right on the sides of a number of lakes.
The area had a lot of stone hedges along the roadside and into the fields. There were lots of sheep!
And an incredible amount of mountains and hills. we stoped at a little hotel beside the road for our lunch. The wisteria were beautiful and smelled nice
Hadrian (Roman emperor 138ce)built a wall to define the North end of the Roman Empire And to protect from the Scottish PICTs
Our lunches were a work of art. Al had pulled beef with blue cheeseand I had Cumberland rarbit. The salads had edible flowers in them. It was a great place to stop and take in the view

We have seen many items across our travels built my Hadrian so it was fitting that we should try to see his wall. Along this ridge was a stone fence, although when it was originally built it was 20 feet high. Over the years the stones were taken to use on other building projects by the locals.
In the middle of the wall is the “Robin Hood tree” where the Kevin Kostner Robin Hood movie was filmed.
We were happy to find this last view of anything by Hadrian. After another hour or so driving we came across this up on the hill
