Driving … onwards to Bath

After a morning breakfast, drive to Heathrow ( wow what a large area that is!) and waiting at the car rental place for a while, we got our snazzy Volvo and headed into the wilds of the UK. It was an adventure with a big learning curve. Albert had driven here before but it had been a number of years, so he was a little rusty. The good news is that the car has a feature where it guided you along the road itself, so as long as you keep hands on the wheel you stay in the middle of the blane.  I think we only hit a couple of curbs, and overall, after only a few wrong turns, we found our Air B&B and got settled into our home for the next few days. We have scheduled a comedy walking tour “Bizarre Bath” for this evening.
We will be able to walk from our apartment to the center of town

Lots of Georgian buildings

And of course… churches
The Abby in the background

Well, interesting entrance to an art gallery

We headed to the Huntsman Inn, one of the oldest pubs in Bath for our dinner. This is also the meeting place for our tour.
This promises to be a very different kind of tour than a Viking Cruise tour….
Away we go!

Our Guide is Comedian Noel Britton. He is an expert at improv and kept us laughing with his tricks an commentary the entire hour and a half!

Along the walk we saw beautiful scenery, interesting architecture and laughed until we were exhausted!

Noel doing a trick

The river Avon, right before a stuffed rabbit wrapped in chains hit the surface.. unfortunately, the rabbit didn’t make it up to the top ( the trick failed) but we managed to get a good laugh from it!

The Abby with its flying buttresses

But later on in the evening: Wow! The rabbit reappeared on a remote controlled car!!!

We all agreed it was a wonderfully fun way to walk around the center of Bath!!!
Our first night in Bath has been a success.
