As we wind down this phase of the trip we are still finding interesting things to see and do. Today we skipped the walking tour and did a hop on hop off bus tour of the city.
These are just a few of the sights we saw. It was nice to see more than just the city center old town- Cologne was severely bombed during wartime so most of the city and old town are replaced by new buildings. Not all of them are pretty and filled with character. Really the main attraction in Cologne is the cathedral in the center of town.
The spires are the tallest in Europe and if you are looking for the ultimate fitness challenge , for a few Euros you can climb the steps to the top… we were here 10 years ago so skipped that. Instead, after the HOHO bus, Albert and I grabbed a tram ride to a northern suburb to checkout MotorWorld- home of the private collection of Michael Schumacher-
The most famous F-1 driver
Edit: Albert went for an evening of pool playing with his friends. He left his phone behind and had to return to get it- they held the ship 45 minutes for him to return…I was a case of anxiety and he was lucky to get back on the ship before we sailed. I’ll let him tell the story of his adventures- I’m still not over the anxiety
The building was full of Schumacher’s cars(12 of them) many of his trophies and memorabilia. We really enjoyed walking around the museum and looking at cars. Two of the cars Albert was familiar with as he saw car and driver racing in the F1 races held at Indianapolis motor raceway in the 90’s.
A very poignant portrait .
The building was also filled with many high end cars that could be bought.
With another tram ride we ended our day back at the shipAfter a full afternoon of car viewing, we stopped into the little Moto caffe adjacent to the cars and had a fantastic filled calzone. I never thought I would be eating pizza among million dollar cars😃
