As our day tour in Wurzburg had ended we met up with our friends and Steve found us a local winery tasting room to try the wines of the region. This is white wine country so I was delighted!
The menu for tasting. It was all in German but some very kind gentlemen at the table helped us try to figure it out.. then the waitress came and gave us recommendations of what to try.
It was great! We tried three wines from a light young wine, a Riesling and finally a white burgundy. Each one had its own characteristics and flavor. We liked them all!
We ordered a cheese tray, a tray of ham and sausages. Im starting to love sausages! These in this region are the size of your finger and long. Perfect amount! The surprise of the day was the small dish of fig mustard! We thought it was a sweet fruit jam… big mistake!
It blew the top of our heads off! Of course we had to find a store that would sell it so we could torture ourselves when we return home!
Chocolates from Melk Abby…Im getting spoiled with the quality of the chocolates here!
After a fun afternoon of wine tasting we decided to head back to the ship. More sightseeing along the way:
We bought a nice bottle of the wine to have during cocktail hour and also opened up our winnings from last night’s trivia contest
