Gosh the heat feels good!

Today we dock in Fort Lauderdale. All but 84 of the passengers will get off and we have around 200 joining us for the next segment to Valparaiso, Argentina
Our tour today will be a bus ride to Miami ( 30 miles south ) and visiting South Beach and Little Havana.
The first few pictures are taken from the bus along the highway ride.

The Miami skyline is certainly glitzy and modern!
Island of the rich and famous

A house on the water ( no taxes)

Bridge to Star Island?
Getting closer to South Beach. More sleek modern designs and a simple Art deco style emerging.

City hall of Miami Beach

Post office
Still in use. Bet that’s cool inside!

This is the entrance to Versace` home. He was shot right on this front porch. It has been turned into an upscale hotel and restaurant.

A local diner with Al and our friend Susan in front

The art Deco in South Beach was magnificient! The clean lines and pastel colors are brilliant played against the blue skies.

Al and I on the Beach

The lifeguard houses are each shaped differently. This one was a rooster

Fantastic building. I felt like I’d run into Robin Williams or Nathan Lane at any moment.

The Palace drag club. After a short walk to our bus, we started the short drive to Little Havana.
Driving through the Bahamian area. Many Bahamians came to Florida to help build it.

Down the street from these houses is a large cemetery for the local members of this area.
Inside this cemetery Michael Jackson made a little video movie that went on to be one of the greatest and innovative song movies of all time: Thriller

The poignant Jewish holocaust memorial.

Entering the area of Little Havana. Our guide is a Cuban journalist who has been here for 7 years. She was very proud of the area.

Cigar stores everywhere Lots of roosters around, even these giant statue ones!!

A theatre that only plays Cuban movies
The domino Park. You can find retired men playing here every  day. This was the filming spot for the Andy Garcia “ Father of the Bride “movie.
No visit to little Havana old be complete without having a Cuban sandwich.. it was delicious

The sandwich was so big that even with splitting it, we couldn’t eat it all! Pork, ham, cheese, lettuce, dressing and string potatoe fries…
After leaving little Havana we drove again through downtown Miami.

After we drove through downtown, we headed to what used to be abandoned warehouses. The entire district was falling into decay  covered with gang graffiti and graffiti in general. He invested in the area, encouraged the artistic side of graffiti and revitalized the area. It is now filled with restaurants, art and  is now the Happening place in Miami! Here’s a few of the murals and graffiti.

The art was wonderful and is changed yearly. Everywhere you looked there was graffiti art.
When we returned back to our ship this beautiful bouquet was waiting for us! Another gift for the World cruise family!

And the puzzle is almost finished, however the Fort Lauderdale passengers have disembarked and they were the driving force towards finishing this puzzle… now its left up to us!
