ICE, ICE Baby!

The morning started by watching the kayaks come out to play!.Today we are visiting the El Brujo glacier. Our excursion today is a zodiac ride to the glacier.

This glacier is a receding one unlike yesterday’s that was advancing. There seems to be more greenery, although still sparse,on the various hills. We are hoping to see more wildlife here.
Drove the zodiac thru a field of ice cubes

Holding ice

Looking up the cliffs to find birds

And there they are ! Cormorants nesting

Inside a small cave like area. It was magical!

Our guide today is Fede, the chief excursion guide

Looking up towards the top a dark spot that is an otter

Don’t we look like we are having fun!

One last look at El Brujo before going back to the ship
Al went to pay bridge and I thought I’d just do a litte relaxing…this view can’t be beat!
Because the weather has been great today, the Captain has decided to make an unscheduled stop at another glacier in the near vicinity.. Skula glacier…the following pictures are that glacier. Of course we all went on the bow of the ship for a viewing party with hot cider/brandy toddies.

Albert and Steven

Im finally able to see some of the differences between glaciers.

Skua has a frozen river coming from the side

Much darker ice with more junk frozen inside

It was a very nice side trip for us! We continue on our journey with a sea day tomorrow. That means lectures, workshops and afternoon games. Oh I should mention that Albert and his friends who play trivia daily have continued their winning streak….
