We now have 6 sea days in a row since Santa Barbara was cancelled. There are lots of things to catch up on while sailing. Laundry is a big one.. Al and I take turns and for this bank of days it will be his turn. There’s always lectures, bridge lessons,Trivia contests, yoga, swimming, and just relaxing doing absolutely nothing. But for me…there is now WATER COLOR PAINTING! Ive always wanted to try it and even though I’m not very creative at it Im going to give it a try. The first class yesterday was called “playtime with paints” who wouldn’t want to get in on something named like.! I signed my friend Susan up so she could have fun too (I waited to tell her until she had a drink in her hand, as she tells me she is not artistic at all)

What to do on a Sea Day
The end today.. we learned how to use alcohol, salt, straws and plastic wrap to achieve different looks with our paints. Next we will attempt a real picture.
When I came to class today there was considerably more supplies at my spot:
More paints and a BIG brush.. this is gonna get serious! Now we needed to make a color chart for reference. 12 colors in all! The end of today and I have the beginnings of a picture of a coral reef. Tomorrow we will add to it, detail it and finish it. I’m quite excited. The teacher is very accepting of our skill level (Susan and I are at the Kindergarten table) and very encouraging to everyone. There are newbies like us in the class, there are somewhat experienced painters and then of course there are the students who brought their own set of 50 brushes of various sizes… All in all I think I’ll try to stay with the class and see where it takes me. Yes indeed, We are attending Senior Summer Camp!
